Title: Set or change CID (callerId) for GV (google voice)
Post by: halp on September 16, 2014, 06:27:01 PM
I have a few GV phone numbers and need to have all of them display (show same outbound #) one phone number.    Anyone know how to set this up in the configuration?  Would nice to also set calleridname.

Google Voice does not support those features.

You'll need to use a different service provider (a SIP ITSP).

Thanks. I know how to setup for other SIP providers.  Knew in the past this was not known how to do for GV. Hoped there was some way around this limit by using Obi devices.

Well, it's not a matter of not knowing how, but rather, that GV doesn't use SIP, and doesn't support any sort of caller ID spoofing.  CNAM is performed by the called party's phone carrier, looking up the number in a third-party CNAM LIDB, and Google neither buys that information, nor feeds those databases with its users' names.
