Title: New Obi110 setup calling issues
Post by: gaspardvoip on September 20, 2014, 02:19:39 PM
When I try to call the goggle voice number I have setup my Obi110 with, the phone doesn't ring. When I try to call out using a phone plugged directly into the 110 it rings once and then I get a constant busy signal. If I dial the Obi Number from an app on my android, the phone rings, but I get no audio.

I originally setup this Obi on my GV account. I ordered the 202 and gave this one to my parents. I reset to factory defaults and set it up with GV and tested it was working. I then added e911 service through anveo on sp2 and now it isn't working. I defaulted and deleted the device from my dashboard and tried starting over from scratch and nothing I do can see to get this working.

ObiHai tech support contacted me with step by step instructions on how to fix this.

1. Login to the Gmail account attached to your google voice account
2. Make a call through hangouts to any number and hang up
3. Log into Google Voice and go to settings
4. Under Phone, you should see an option under Forward Calls: for Google Chat.
5. Check the box and test

If the option is not there for Google chat:
1. Login to the Gmail account attached to your google voice account
2. Click on your name in the chat
3. Down at the bottom, click "Revert to Old Chat'
Make a call through hangouts to any number and hang up
4. Log into Google Voice and go to settings
5. Under Phone, you should see an option under Forward Calls: for Google Chat.
6. Check the box and test
7. Go back to gmail, click on your name and select "Try the new hangouts"

I would like to thank support for the very fast reply!

Hi:

Good instructions from Obihai, except for one typo:  the step "3b" (the line between 3 and 4) should read:

"Make a call through Gmail using Google Chat, to any phone number, and then hang up."

Hangouts is the new system that replaced Chat, but you can leave the old Chat destination in place solely to support your OBi for now, and you can then switch back to Hangouts (click "Try the new Hangouts").

gaspardvoip's instructions worked very well to get 'chat' option to show up.

Had OBi100 with same issue (dial-out would ring once then busy or error code '500').  Google account was created recently in late August 2014.  I knew what was needed (chat option under phones), but could not figure out how to make the google chat phone option appear.  These instructions were very clear and straight forward.

Thank you OBitalk tech support for figuring it out and gaspardvoip for posting.
