Title: How many outbound proxies?
Post by: Somebody on October 06, 2014, 10:03:38 AM
Is the number of outbound proxies/calling plans limited to the number of SPs supported by an OBi adapter?

Let's say 1xx only supports 2 SPs.
Does it mean I can subscribe to 2 SPs for incoming calls AND only make outgoing calls via those SPs?

Because I would like to have Google Voice support but not sure which one to buy - 1xx or 2xx.

In my current Linksys I can only subscribe to one SIP trunk (for incoming calls) but I can configure up to 4 different outbound proxies and make outgoing calls via up to 5 different routes.

Is it similar with OBi or are my outbound routes only limited to the SPs/Profiles supported by a specific OBi model (2 for 1xx and 4 for 2xx)?

Thanks in advance.

You can use Voice Gateways for different outbound routes. 1xx and 2xx series OBis can have up to 8 Voice Gateways. These are outbound only and only SIP but not Google Voice.

There is a further restriction with Voice Gateways.  Because there is no SIP registration with the ITSP VGs are only usable with SIP ITSPs which permit calling without registration.  Some ITSPs do, some don't.

Also you need at least one SP slot configured in SIP mode.  Thus, for example, you cannot have 2 GV accounts configured on an OBi1xx and call out on a VG.

So, just to clarify. I would like to have 1 VoIP account configured for GV, 1 SIP account configured for some other ITSP (trunk).

Then will I be able to configure some outbound routes for calls via another ITSP? Because, yes, I have account with Nonoh.net which allows for outbound calls without registration.

Will OBi 110 suffice in this case or do I need OBi 200?

The OBi110 allows a connection to a PSTN line.
An OBi100 will do what you want.
GV on SP1
SIP provider on SP2
SIP outbound only on a Voice Gateway

Here are the prices:
Amazon OBi100 - $50.27
Amazon OBi200 - $48.89
Newegg OBi100 - $38.99

If you can afford the extra $9.90 I would get the OBi200.

Edit:
If you get a defective product Newegg charges return postage, Amazon doesn't.

Thanks a lot.
I guess, I better get OBi 200. Just in case.
I don't have PSTN at home anyway.
