Title: OBi 202 line 2 not working?
Post by: idahowayne on November 15, 2014, 12:24:11 PM
Recently purchased a 202 and have connected 2 identical 2 line phones. Whichever phone is connected to the OBi "phone 2" port only has dial tone on line 1.
Is something wrong with my OBi or is this normal?

Just a guess, but I am thinking your two line phone wire has 4 connections on the plugin.
Probably on the Obi, either the middle two or the outer two are active on each port....
So, do you have a phone with just the one line to test in each port?

The OBi line 1 port gives me dial tone on both ports. I don't have a single line phone but will get one tomorrow to see what happens. The thrift store sells them for $1.

Phone Port#1 has PH1 and PH2.
Phone Port#2 has only PH2.
Get a 4 wire splitter for Phone Port#1 and plug both phones into Port#1.

Edit:
The inner wire pair on Phone Port 1 is PH1.
The inner wire pair on Phone Port 2 and the outer pair on Phone Port 1 are PH2.

Thanks azrobert,
I now have 2 #'s and may get a third, is there any way to tell which # it is when the phone rings?

You can give each SP trunk a different ring pattern.
Voice Services -> SPx Service -> X_DefaultRing: (1 thru 10)

The ring patterns can be found here:
Ring Settings -> Ring Profile A

The ring patterns can be customized.

You can also add a prefix to the callerid.
