Please add a feature for email notice of firmware updates. Otherwise I only know about updates when my phone quits working.

You can do this already.  In the firmware threads on the forum, choose either the "Latest Firmware Updates for OBi Devices" to be notified of all firmware changes to all OBi devices, or click into one of the threads for the release notes for your specific OBi device if you only want to be advised for that model.

In the thread, click the link titled "NOTIFY" - a dialog box will appear asking if you want to be notified of changes to the topic.  Now, when the topic is updated with new info, you will be notified and can choose whether you want to update your firmware.
