Title: Help finding if OBi100 will work for my scenario
Post by: Jollcese on February 07, 2015, 03:24:07 PM
Hi,
I have a Call Forwarding provider (flynumber.com) with a local number in my home country (Argentina) that's forwarder to my phone here in US (at a .2cent/min rate). They also support forwarding to SIP phones without per minute charges.
And I also have a Google Voice number.
If I buy the OBi100, will I be able to?
* receive calls made to the number in Argentina?
* receive calls made to my Google Voice number?
* make calls from my Google Voice number (free inside US)?

Thanks
Jose

Yes, but you'll need to register the OBi with a SIP ITSP that permits incoming SIP calls.
Yes.
Yes.

You can point your Argentina number directly to the OBi, but typically there are audio problems with this method. A more reliable method is to get a free SIP account like Sip2Sip and register it with the OBi then route the forwarding number to your account at the free service.

The above scenario plus GV would use both SP trunks on an OBi100. I recommend for less than $8 more an OBi200. An OBi200 has 4 SP trunks you can register to service providers and some additional features.
