Title: How to get the Obi110 Promo Price
Post by: BruceFerjulian on February 17, 2015, 05:28:21 PM
At the landing page for this forum, on the left hand side are the OBi device links to buy them on Amazon.

<http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php#1>

Obi110 = $59.99 but on Amazon it's (List Price: $84.94), (Price: $60.56)

If you go to Obi's products page <http://www.obihai.com/product-primer> and click on "Compare OBi Devices"

<http://www.obihai.com/matrix>

It lists the Obi110 = $69.99 (List Price), $49.99 (Promo Price).

---------------------------------
PRICES
---------------------------------
LIST   $84.99
PRICE  $60.56
PRICE  $59.99 (ObiTALK Community)
PROMO  $49.99

How do you get the Promo Price?

He wants to save $10.57 if the promo price was $49.99.

Well, OBi prices are as fluid as the "market price" of a lobster on the menu at a restaurant.

Today's price shown here on the left side of the forum page is $59.99, and the price on Amazon and Newegg is 57  cents higher.  The $49.95 price is only shown on the GIF on that page, and it's likely just an expired price from the last time the device was on sale.  Promos come and go all the time.  I suppose, if you want to get a lawyer involved, you could force them to give you another 10 bucks...

I don't know whether to laugh or cringe at the three defensive responses? --But I agree that it's unreasonable to focus on the Promo price on some page that doesn't currently exist.

Not defensive; just poking fun at the whole situation.  In other words, the price is whatever it is on the retailer's web site today, and that price varies over time.  And, for the legal reference:  yes, there's a GIF that has a different price printed on it.  Most companies will argue that they're not responsible for typographical errors.  If someone wanted to press the company to honor that price, my guess is that a lawyer's advice would be the next step.

At first I thought that the OP found the promo price page deep somewhere that it was no longer linked (that happens when the link is taken down but a Google search still turns up the page). Then I did about 4 clicks and found the page with the promo price under http://www.obihai.com/features-and-set-up and "Compare OBi Devices." Obihai would probably say that the link was just to compare the different devices--though I can see where it could be misleading when you have an active link with the prices.

A lawyer would probably say that $10.57 would not be worth anyone's time unless it affected a substantial amount of people (as in class action). And if he were to bill for his time (which he wouldn't since he probably wouldn't even see the potential client over this issue), he would send a bill for at least $150 for dispensing 15 minutes of his learned advice.

A moral (not the only one) to this story could be to choose your battles wisely...and a possible confusion over $10.57 would not be worth pushing the issue. Now, can someone tell me where to send the bill to? (And please no one say overhere@FU.com)
