Title: access to Attendant Menu from remote phone
Post by: stanley.siu on June 03, 2011, 07:49:55 AM
I have just installed my Obi100 with Google Voice.  I do not want any caller to hear the Attendant Menu, so I set it up not to use Auto Attendant.  Is there any way to access my Obi100 Attendant Menu or re-direct my call if I am calling my Obi100 from a remote phone?  Thanks.

stanley.siu,

OBi web page:
Setup Wizard>Inbound Settings>ITSP InboundCallRoute

You can setup known remote tel numbers to acess the AA
(5145551111|5145552222):aa},{ph},                       <--------------Incoming call go to AA

You can also set up a callback to get you AA. This is a good setup for cell users that have unlimited incoming calls.
{(<**2>(5145553333|5145554444)):aa($1)},             <------------ Callback to AA

You can combine them if you want both (if it makes sense in your call strategy):
(5145551111|5145552222):aa},{ph},{(<**2>(5145553333|5145554444)):aa($1)},

Edit: (Correction)
{(5145551111|5145552222):aa},{(<**2>(5145553333|5145554444)):aa($1)},{ph}

QBZappy,

The callback will never happen in the example you gave.  If the call is from 5145551111 or 5145552222, the call will go to the Auto Attendant.  Calls from anyone else, including 5145553333 or 5145554444, will go the PHONE Port.

The order has to be:

{(5145551111|5145552222):aa},{(<**2>(5145553333|5145554444)):aa($1)},{ph}

RonR,

Tks for catching that.

QBZappy and RonR,
I tried your suggestion to the ITSP InboundCall Route with unchecked default, Submit and Reboot(in admin login).  The setting went back to default after reboot.  I modified the setting for time zone on the same page, after reboot the setting for time zone is changed to whatever I changed to.  What makes the ITSP InboundCall Route to go back to default setting?  Thanks.

If Auto Provisioning is enabled in your OBi, you MUST configure it from the OBiTALK site and NOT directly.

Thanks RonR for your quick reply.
For some reasons that I have to have a "1" before the area code, otherwise, it does not work.
{15145551111|1514555222:ph,aa}
I really appreciated your help.  Thanks again. :)

{15145551111|1514555222:ph,aa}

It has to be the actual CallerID to be matched.  If the leading '1' is inconsistent, you can always use:

{(1?5145551111|1?514555222):ph,aa}

That will handle it with or without a leading '1'.

I assume you're aware that this will ring both the phone and the AA, and the first one to answer will win.

RonR,

I have 2 Obi100 and both are under one account(OBi Dashboard).  I can set up the remote phone number in "Trusted Callers"  within my OBi Dashboard instead of using the setting in ITSP InboundCallRoute to access the Attendant Menu(this is a lot easier to edit).  But it only works on my 1st OBi100 endpoint.  I would think the same Circle of Trust or Trusted Callers should apply to all endpoints within the same account.  It is easier to manage all endpoints under one account for one family.  Any idea why the "Trusted Callers" does not work for the 2nd endpoint?  Thanks.

stanley.siu,

I don't use the OBiTALK configuration facility, so I can't comment on how it works or should work.
