No Google Chat Options Under Settings

I have to phones setup with sep devices.  One is hooked up to my gmail account and works fine.  Just purchased second device and trying to hookup to my hosted gmail account which is gary@schaums.net which is giving me problems.  The phone works but does not seem connected to google voice.  When i go to voice > settings > phone i do not see google chat listed as a phone which i can forward to.

you must make one call from within the gmail account gary@schaums.net . then the google chat phone should show up.

Did that and still not working.  This was working before i ported over my tel number.  Could it have something to do with that.  I am able to make calls out but it shows the old number.
