White Noise on Land Line

I have recently purchased and installed an Obi110.  I am using this with 2
services - GV as the primary line and Freephone line as secondary line
(**2).  So far so good.

I have this setup connected to a Panasonic 2 line cordless phone. Line 1 on
my cordless phone is connected to my land line and line 2 is connected to
the Obi 110.

When I make a call on my land line, there is a lot of white noise.  If I
physically disconnect the line 2 from the Panasonic the white noise goes
away.  There is no white noise when I make a call using the Obi 110 device.

If i remove the power to the Obi110 the white noise is reduced by 50% but
there is still some noise.

Prior to purchasing the Obi110, I had a linksys VOIP connected to
freephoneline and into line 2 of my Panasonic.  This setup worked flawlessly
without any white noise so I know that this it is not my Panasonic device.

Have I received a faulty OBI device? Is there anything I can do to reduce the
white noise or am I stuck with it?
