Call Rolling

I searched to see if someone had asked this question but no one has really.

I wanted to know if its possible using one GV account on either two OBI 110's or one 202.

Basically if I'm using line 1, I would like any incoming calls to roll to line two. I essentially want to able to make and receive calls on two lines simultaneously using the same phone number.

I read it is not possible or it will cause issues if you use the same GV account two units. I did not find anything about using the same GV account twice on a 202. Is call rolling possible with one account?

Welcome,

I pulled this one out from my personal archives. This is oldie but goodie. A classic discussion on the topic.

That was very informative. According to that thread, one GV account is capable of supporting 2 simultaneous inbound/outbound sessions.

I have a few obi 110 units, but I don't have any of the new 202 units.

I would purchase a 202 unit if someone can confirm that with one GV account, I can assign it to both physical line 1 & line 2 ports on the obi202 unit. So if I dial out on any line it shows the same number-and if I'm currently on the phone on line 1, line 2 on the obi202 will ring if someone calls me.

That was the thread I was reading before I started this one- almost the same question- though I'd rather just have one phone number.

According to this video- the default setup automatically does what I was asking? Can anyone confirm? If I add a GV account to the obi202 it will automatically use that number to dial out on both lines, ring on both lines, and support 2 simultaneous calls all with one phone number?

Well in order to do that You would only set up the Google Voice account as one service provider and tell it to forward to both phone ports.  Then you would set outbound dialing on both physical ports to use SP1 or SP2 (whichever you set Google voice up on).  I can confirm that I can make a call through Google Voice well I am receiving a call on Google Voice through another phone.  I tested it today to make sure it wasn't a fluke but I also did it last night with my mother on one phone and sister on another.  It was easier to pick up the second line then it was to flash over.  (I couldn't find the flash button lol)

The automatic setting is for both ports to ring.  I think you will need to tell port 2 to place the call out through SP1 however.  Whether it is default or not it's just one tick to make it work.

Thanks I am going to order an obi202 now.

Had I known that the obi202 supported 2 simultaneous calls with 1 phone number (that eliminates the need for rollover because I only wanted 1 phone number anyway) then I would have bought a few ages ago.

I had another question but I guess I'll ask in another thread- according to the datasheet The OBi202 supports the T.38 fax standard for reliable facsimile calls over the Internet.

Do the old obi110's not support it? Because my fax works with GV though I had to slow down the baud rate to get it to work consistently.

LOL answered my own question:
