Obi via GV without Cell Phone Plan

Hi - thanks in advance for your help with this question.

My wife and I are leaving to work in Europe for 10 months starting this October. It does not make financial sense to keep my two AT&T cell lines (with contact expirations 10/13 and 10/14) active. I would like to port these two numbers to our respective GV accounts.

My question is: we won't have cell phone service in the US, will OBIHAI work with these two numbers?

My understanding is that GV requires an active cell phone line.

If you can port your numbers to GV then any GV compatible Obi model will work with them (after the numbers are ported to GV)

Not true. GV requires one active phone line during setup, it must be US based, but it does not have to be a cell phone line.
