How do you makes calls with the phone already in use?

I'm using an Obi202 & have VOIPo setup on SP1 & GV setup on SP2. When someone is using the phone with VOIPo I would like to be able to pickup another phone & use GV on SP2 to make a call.

If no one is on the phone I can dial **2 & use the GV account to make calls, but if someone is already on the phone when I press **2 nothing changes & I can't make a call out.

This thread sounds like what I might need, but I'm not sure what I need to change or how. Any help is appreciated.

I just contacted Obihai support & they said you can't do what I want to do.

In order to dial **2 you need a dial tone first, so I would have to use the Phone 2 port on the Obi202 to make an outbound call if someone is already using the Phone 1 port when I pick up the phone.

I should have mentioned that the Obi202 is plugged into a walljack & all the other phones in the house work off that.

You could wire both Ph1 and PH2 to the wall jack and add one or more 2-line phones

The physical Phone Port 1 on an OBI202 is wired for PH1 and PH2. It has 4 contacts. The inner 2 contacts is PH1 and the outer 2 contacts is PH2. If you are using a 4 wire cord to connect the OBi202 to the wall jack and your house is wired for 2 lines, you can access both PH1 and PH2 from any phone.

You have 3 choices:

Get a splitter like this:

or

Remove a wall jack and rewire it for PH2.

Like Shale said. Buy a 2 line phone.
