Repurpose Obi 110 to allow Android tablet to call out with ObiON

With May 15 pending, I just unplugged my Obi and went back to connecting my DECT phones to cell with Bluetooth.  BUT, I have a new T-Mobile Nexus 7 Android tablet that T-Mobile blocks from making phone calls by the IMEI number.  I should be able to use the ObiON app to call out through my Obi 110.   Has anybody done this without using Google Voice?

Welcome to the forum. Is the Bluetooth capability built in to the cordless phone or is it a separate device that plugs in to your cordless phones?  If the BT capability is built in to the phone the tablet would need a VOIP service provider in order to make this work.

Using the OBiON app to call out through the 110 (or any other OBi) is independent of whatever SP(s) you have.  http://blog.obihai.com/2011/10/use-obion-iphone-android-to-make-calls.html

Arguably there are better apps (eg CSipSimple) than OBiON, but OBiON is fairly simple to get up and running with an OBi.

Just try it, You have to call your obi then press a number then dial out then pound.

This is not correct. You can easily setup single stage dialing with the OBiON app.
It is true that a lot of people reported problems using the OBiON App, but it should be OK using it only with WiFi.
I prefer CSipSimple, but it's a lot more difficult setup.

I think the point here is that wasting electricity on a Obi just to use ObiON is foolish.
If you don't intend to use the obi, a Android native sip app is better.
