I had gotten the same error message and couldn't re add GV. I spent a couple hours trying different things trying to update the software but being 700 miles from my summer home where the 110 is I gave up and paid the $10 ransom. Less than 10 minutes later everything was updated automatically and I could re add GV.  I used the instructions for mine here at home and everything went smooth. Saved me another $10 ransom  :D

You truly are a Genius....  :)

After trying various things for over an hour, I was about to shell out $10 to be released as 'firmware update' hostage.

Then I came across this post and your detailed firmware instruction. In less than 10 minute I am back in business. Many thanks!!!

...and you are a Hero  :) :)

I just updated a friend's OBi110 using Steve's step-by-step instructions in the first reply to the OP.

The Mars Rover is once again rolling and sending back photos.

Thanks yet again, Steve. You are a jeenyuss.  ::)

Thanks for the feedback!  It's a good antidote to the trolls.

Hello all, I too am having the same issue, No service configure error, is there no way around this, or do we have to update to the latest firmware ?? I am also using Google Voice, please advise if I can get the OBI 100 running without updating the firmware, or it is a must to update, thanks.

If you want GV to work you MUST update.

So updating with the May 2016 update on this site won't work ?? Like Steve had in his post ?? http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=11384.0

Also is Amazon the only place to buy the update ?? and is it $10 a year after that ??

For an OBi1x0 you need firmware version 2886. How you get that on your OBi is immaterial.

My firmware says I am on 2886 but yet it still won't configure and connect to GV.

You need to delete the Google Voice configuration off of your OBi and start over.  Read:

Carefully look at the page that pops up during configuration, and confirm that, in fact, you are signed into the correct Google/Gmail/Google Voice account that holds your Google Voice telephone number.

Log into Google Voice on your browser and go to this web page:  https://www.google.com/voice#phones.
Verify that it says the exact two words "Your number" on the left side of the page, and that you have Google Chat check-marked on that page.

OK I will do this in the morning, just to make sure, I'm doing this from the Dashboard, not the OBI Talk portal ??

SteveInWA

The OBiTALK dashboard is the portal.  Two names for the same thing.  Perhaps you are thinking of the OBi's local web server page, accessed via its IP address?  Don't use that.

Steve, thanks for all the help, finally got it working, at first didn't work when I deleted both SP 1 and 2, it would just say configuring with a circle Icon for about 5 minutes and then not connected, the next time, I decided to use expert setup with GV and add a new device, and voila it configured, go figured, not sure what made me do that but it worked, LOL

Thanks again, and I may add the SP 2 down the road again, as I have a 2nd number but the main line is working for now so I don't want to mess it up, LOL

Got the error today, using OBI100. I allready have latest 2886 version.  Last time I updated (from an earlier version) it fixed it.

Steve, do I need to go through the whole process again as shown here?:
http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=8560.msg56460#msg56460

If so, why does updating to same version do anything to fix it? thanks

Mike:  No, you don't need to go through the entire process again.  In fact, you'd probably get an error message if you tried to upgrade to the same firmware version as already installed.

Skip the steps regarding the firmware upgrade.  Follow the steps that describe logging into the correct Google Voice account on one browser tab, then opening another browser tab (press Ctrl-T), log into the OBiTALK portal, and click on SP1 or whichever SP has Google Voice.

On the window that pops up, click Accept to get past the 911 warning, then, on the next window, click the link to the right of "Replace Google Account Credentials" and follow the instructions.

Did that fix it?
