Ive changed from using the call centric trick on my Obi508, to dumping CC (where CC injects CNAM) and changed over to simonics Gateway...

Ive DELETED the CC on my SP and deleted the GV on my SP

and ive entered the simononics GW stuff (yes I paid the $5.99 :)..)

I can make outgoing calls but NO incoming calls come in.

I have the right PHONE 1 selected as incoming and outgoing etc...

But my phone doesnt ring on incoming ;(

I have google chat unchecked....

and I setup simonics as a generic SP, anyone have any suggestions ?
thanks !

Of course it's not going to ring if you have Google Chat un-checked.  Put a check mark next to it.

transam98

for some reason it was unchecked before (when I was doing the CC trick for CNAM) so I DID the checkmark, then also RESETUP Simonics on the obi508 and did a reboot and tried still wont ring (but outgoing works fine) ive attached screen shots (only edited to block personal info).. any other suggestions ? :):)

I did pick GENERIC provider but havent changed manually any settings in the 508 (basically the same as a 202 etc...)

The reason you had previously disabled inbound calling on Google Chat, was that you were instead routing inbound calls through Callcentric, and you had Callcentric setup to ring those calls on your OBi.

If you want to instead use Simonics Gateway for inbound calls, then understand that it is acting like a Google Chat client, similar to how OBi devices work directly with Google Chat.  So, yes, you need to add a check mark next to Chat.

It also needs to be the only thing using Chat, as it might interfere with or have contention with other Chat clients.

Why did you stop using Callcentric?

transam98

Yea, it was unchecked (as you said) as I was using it with CC. I did the checkmark in there then rebooted the obi and still nothing ;(....

I have a total of 3GV's/and CC's and one of the CC's never gets used, so I got a email saying (from CC) cause it has been 90 days... we are taking our free CC back (lol) So I figured id migrate all to simonics and dump the middleman (cc) plus this way I dont go through double viop's sometimes degrading the call......

so this was my 1st simonics but for some reason I still cant get it to ring ;( and in my 0bi508 config screen (webpage portal) it does show up as REGISTERED on simon ;) and as I said a outgoing call works fine, but when I call into it, it wont ring ( to bad I cant make the google web page reboot haha)....

im stumped on this one ;( I did send bill (@simon a email but no reply yet..) also on his website it does show as registered/connected.

transam98

Do you know if this has anything to do with it (see pic ive drawn a arrow) thanks ! :)

SteveInWA

No, you don't need that section.

See my screenshot, attached.

Simonics GVGW uses a similar OAUTH 2.0 authentication procedure as does OBiTALK.  When giving GVGW permission to use your Google account's Chat service, you need to be very careful that you are logged into the correct Google account that holds your desired GV phone number, while at the same time being signed into the correct GVGW account.  Otherwise, you'll end up authorizing the wrong (different) Google account to that Simonics GVGW account.

All I can tell you is that I've played with it a few times, and it is flaky.  Sometimes it needs to be toggled on and off a few times to get it to work.  Doesn't seem worth the hassle to me.  Good luck.

transam98

Hmmmm, ok well ive verified (its the only GV account (ive setup on simon)(all details match etc...) I did the go offline and regenerate PW (and entered it in the obi and rebooted) and nada....

when I call the GV (from another phone of course), It rings on my gmail (im logged in) and also rings my cell (so it is forwarding... that is the sprint thing you see)... but the phone doesnt ring (nothing was rewired etc etc etc when it was changed from CC to Simon..)

;(

SteveInWA

Go offline on the Simonics web page.

Log onto your Google account and go to this page:  https://myaccount.google.com/security#connectedapps

Click "Manage Apps" and find Simonics.  Click it, and then click the blue "Remove" button.  Go back to the Simonics website and click the "Re-authorize Google Voice connection" link and follow the instructions.  Go back online.  Confirm that the OBi shows "Registered" status for the Simonics SP.

Sign out of your Google account on your computer.

Try an inbound call to your GV number.  Does it ring now?  If not, do you have any other OBi devices (such as a OBi 110 or 100) also using that GV account?  If you do, unplug those devices and just leave the one device plugged in, with the Simonics account.  Test again.

transam98

ok tried EXACTLY to a T what you said :)

Go offline (simon)
went into the google and manage and removed simon
went back to simonics and did a re-authorize
then did a go online on simonics (and it DID go online) then
signed out of all google on the computer
went to a 3rd line and called my GV/Simonics SP # and it (does the simul ring onto my cell but the obi pots doesnt ring)
and since i signed out of all google on the pc no ringing there.

Your using your SP as a GENERIC also ?
there isnt any other obi's (110 202 etc..)

Since I went from the CC trick (where SP1 was CC and SP5 was GV)... ive DELETED BOTH the old SP1 (cc) and SP5(gv) and replaced em BOTH with SP1 Simonics right ?

transam98

I have a 4 Line phone connected to the obi...

I went into the OBI SP1 and told it incoming will ring on PHONE 1 and PHONE 2...

then did a test call to the GV # that is on SP1 (GV Simon) and....

still didnt ring either L1 or L2 on the phone ;(

SteveInWA

I guess you'll have to see if Bill Simon can help.

Meanwhile, you can prove to yourself that your Google Voice account, OBi and telephone are working properly (or not!) by doing this:

  • Log into your Google Voice account on your laptop or desktop web browser, and go here:  https://www.google.com/voice#inbox
  • Press Ctrl-T to open another browser tab (leave the first tab open with Google Voice).
  • In that second browser tab, log into your OBiTALK dashboard and delete the SPx configuration that is now set up for Simonics (click the trash can icon).
  • Click the SPx and then follow the instructions to set up Google Voice.  This will test everything using a direct OBi/GV configuration, instead of going through Simonics.
  • Test some inbound and outbound calls.  Do they work?

Taoman

I would recommend looking at the call history log on the OBi itself and find out if the calls are even making it to the OBi.

Wait:  if you had one SP set up with Google Voice, and a different SP set up with Simonics, using the same Google account, that is going to cause problems with inbound calls.

If you are no longer using Callcentric, delete that SP.  Temporarily delete the SP set up for Simonics.  Temporarily set up the SP that you WERE using for Simonics, instead selecting Google Voice as the service provider.

Good idea!

transam98

ok so I know my actual telephone is working :)...

I did the Delete of the SP1 (simon info) and replaced it with GV... did all the reboots etc....

wont ring the phone, so now im really baffled.

I did a hard boot on the obi (pulled power cord) still the same...

but weird part is PHONE 1 that is configured to GV/SIMON both DIAL out no problem

All of my other SP's ( 2-3-4-5-6 etc that are configured for the CC-GV thing all work no problem....
p.s.. I do appreciate your help :)

transam98

To clarify on Tao's ?...

OLD SP1 was set as Call centric NY # this had PHONE 1 incoming calls will ring on
and
OLD SP5 was set as GV ALL OUTGOING calls from PHONE # 1 would exit out on this SP

so this: POTS Phone LINE 1 incoming on this was set on obi as Call centric and when you CALLED out on POTS Phone L1 it would make outgoing call on GV (SP5)

When I changed to SIMONICS, I DELETED SP1 and SP5.
I ONLY reconfigured SP1 as SIMONICS and left SP5 blank.

When I configured SIMONICS I set it to: Incoming will come in on phone 1 and outgoing on SP1 will goto PHONE 1

SteveInWA

Perhaps you are reading these posts and making changes so fast, that you are overlooking something.

If you properly set up Google Voice on the OBi, and it says that the status is Connected, and you have a check mark next to Chat, and you've told the OBi to ring the appropriate telephone line jack, then a phone plugged into that jack should ring.  Maybe you need to slow down and simplify things.  Look at your OBi's local web page call history as Taoman suggested and see if the calls are reaching your OBi.  If so, you've made a mistake in wiring your phone to the OBi or telling the OBiTALK portal to ring that phone on inbound calls.  Try plugging in a simple one-line phone to the correct jack and test again.

Otherwise, on the Google Voice phones page, click the "Edit" button under Google Chat.  Make sure that you haven't set up a ring schedule that tells GV to NOT ring your phone on weekends  ::) ::) ::)

Then, click the "Groups & Circles" tab.  Confirm that all of the groups are set to ring Google Chat.

I am shutting down for the night.  Good luck.

transam98

ok did and checked the call circles thing there, forwards to only 2 things... my CELL and GOOGLE talk...

then I logged into the obi's page (the 192.168.x.) and went to history and CLEARED IT fully...

Then called the GV #...

and it does NOT show up as ringing or missed etc...

makes me believe somehow that GV and SIMON arent making it to INCOMING possibly... ?
